WG5: Policy, Impact and Dissemination

WG5 ensures that the findings of the SAFE ICU network translate into policy, practice, and have a lasting impact. Its primary aim is to connect researchers and clinicians with policymakers, professional organisations, and European health bodies.

The group will develop policy briefs and white papers, in collaboration with WGs 1–3, to inform decision-makers about the prevalence, causes, and prevention of key patient safety harms in ICUs. WG5 will work closely with nursing and medical organisations across Europe to support the integration of evidence into guidelines and policy.

WG5 also leads dissemination and impact activities, linking with EU initiatives and large-scale ICU data infrastructures to promote data sharing and reuse. In partnership with WG4, the group will support academic writing and dissemination training, with a strong focus on mentoring early-career researchers. By coordinating communication across all working groups, WG5 ensures that SAFE ICU outputs reach the right audiences and contribute to safer, evidence-based ICU care across Europe.
