WG4: Education of Intensive Care Nurses

WG4 focuses on strengthening ICU nurse education to improve patient outcomes and reduce avoidable harms. As nursing expertise is a key determinant of patient safety, this group addresses the knowledge gaps identified in WGs 1–3.

WG4 will develop a multilingual online education programme on patient safety in the ICU, alongside innovative training formats such as workshops, summer schools, virtual simulation, and interactive learning tools. Simulation-based education will be used to enhance nurses’ skills in managing high-risk and low-frequency patient safety scenarios.

Through collaboration with experts and European organisations, WG4 will support the wide dissemination of education and training, enabling nurses across Europe to become leaders in patient safety within their ICUs.
